Bridget Plazzer: Violin, Vocals, Banjo
Is a witty lyricist who adds a curl of tongue and cheek to Rezzalp and has co-written many songs for the band. She often has the other girls welling with tears of silent laughter during songwriting sessions. As the bands chief mischief maker, one of Bridget’s primary trouble making schemes is to pull faces on stage at Helena to make her laugh in the middle of the song. She plays violin, piano and recently picked up the banjo. Her favourite bands include Weezer, They might be giants and the Icelandic superstar Bjork. She also loves Gypsy/Hungarian music. Bridget has kept every violin that she has ever played since the age of 12, there is currently a collection of 5 violins in the practice room, she never plays the others but sentimentality demands that she keeps every single one. Over more recent years Bridget has acquired a museum of socks, some of which she has designed herself and collected on world sock buying trips in her other life as a fashion designer.
Helena Plazzer: Lead Vocals, Flute
Lead singer, flautist and one of the key lyricists and composers within Rezzalp. Helena trained in classical and theatrical singing, replicating scenes as a child via VHS from ‘Singing in the Rain’ and ‘Meet me in St. Louis’. Her influences are 1930’s musicals, old plays, 1920’s jazz music, fairy lights, old school romance and The Bobby Dazzler Sock. The innocent dreamer in the band. Helena has an imaginative and melodious style of writing. She writes her music on a real piano thats slightly out of tune. She is often found at rehearsals in her long johns and her fo fury jacket, and will often breaks into Tom Jones or David Bowie impressions mid song. A few years back Helena arranged for an upright Piano to drop 50 feet from the air in effort to get something off her chest.
Maryanne Plazzer: Lead Vocals, Synth
Lead vocalist, synthesizer and chief guiro player. Maryanne is a key composer and lyricist within Rezzlap who adds honesty and beautiful raw moments to every lyric she writes. Having completed a Diploma of Music Technology at RMIT, Maryanne will often be using tech savy terminology about sound equipment to the other girls blank faces. Maryanne records and creates new work from her home protools system. Loves visiting in the bunnings equivalent music stop to check out all the pro equipment she wants to own. You will often find Maryanne at rehearsals with a blanket, beannie and sporting a packet of Home Brand Chocolate Bullets. Her inspiration comes from Classical music and filmscores. Some favourites include Orff and Rae Howell. Maryanne has loads of fire and energy and is often found burning the candle by her Roland Electric Piano that lives in her bedroom.
Suzanne Plazzer: Piano, Vocals
Pianist, support vocalist and player of almost any instrument she picks up, Suzanne is the key arranger and composer of Rezzalp. Classically trained on the piano from a very young age, she is inspired by anyone in history who has ever played piano….though she owns multiple albums of Ben Folds and Alicia Keys. She loves any music that has a melodramatic flair, but what mainly inspires Suzanne is a cup of Earl Grey tea with vanilla soy milk. When it comes to rehearsal sessions, Suzanne is high fashion! Always sporting a fabulous pair of new heels, (current shoe count: 98).
Suzanne is often found encouraging her cat pumpkin to be apart of the rehearsal and is happily distracted when the ginger fur-ball is around.

The whole story
Rezzalp recorded their first track in their hometown of Horsham, Victoria in 2003. Shortly after they were nominated for the Australian MusicOz Awards. In 2004 they became apart of a small compelation release in SA ‘Audacious’ , where they met and formed a great working relationship with drummer and engineer Justin Humphries. At this stage the sisters lived 5 hours apart but inseparable musically. So they decided to meet regularly in Ballarat to song write, jam and have fun at’The Old Mill’. Here they wrote music for a short film ‘The power of thinking positive’ and recorded many demos in the Old Mill Recording Studio with Ian Sandercoe. One track they recorded called ‘Spiders’(a band favourite) became part of their first independant EP release (track 7). By 2005 the band meet up again with Justin Humphries at JH studios in Strathewan Vic, with a vision to put together an EP alongside their favourite drummer boy. In 2006, Rezzalp released their debut EP, The Preview, which achieved ABC’s album of the week in April 2006. From this release the track ‘Animosity’ received a top ten position in ABC’s National Fresh Air competition. This was followed with a live to air concert, broadcast on ABC’s Evenings with Derek Guille.
On the back of this release came another compelation release called ‘Multiple Passengers’. It was put together by the local community in Maryborough. alongside Mark Woods at the Bald Hill studios. During this time the sisters had become involved in this community, with sister Maryanne who resided there. With Mark, they also revisited some old tunes and remade the song’Kelly street’ into a grass blues version that they grew to love. (Occasionally they put this up on myspace) After a full year of recording and regional touring in 2006, the girls received a small grant that assited them to continue developing their songwriting. In 2007 they continued to devolep work and collectively created enough songs for their first full length album. Late 2007 they began recording some of these new songs back at JH studios. Here a new Rezzalp sound began to merge for within the team.
In 2008 the sisters knew to make this dream a reality that they would need to live in closer proximity and remove themselves from performing live to concentrate their efforts and raise enough funds between all their day jobs to produce a quality recording. So they moved in together into inner Melbourne in the heart of where it was all happening.
In mid 2008, the sisters begun recording their first track ‘In my dreams’ from the new album, at RMIT studio One with Tok Norris. It seemed like the right place to start with Maryanne studying sound as a student their and fringe benefits including no studio charge. Here the band also recorded a string quartet for several songs on the album before meeting with Kalju Tonuma and deciding to complete the final mix and remainder of their album alongside him at Studio One in Collingwood. Changing into a larger studio meant it would take longer to finish the album, saving funds as they went.
Early 2009, JH Studios burnt in the Black Saturday fires. The sisters had many ties to that studio and many tracks off their album were recorded there. That weekend changed the lives for many people they knew dearly. They had planned to track more drums the weekend of the fires, but it wasn’t ment to be. The Album was finished out of Studio One by July 2009 the same month the girls landed their first gig back performing alongside Katy Steele (Little Birdie) and Jen Cloher, for compilation album tour for the Album ‘Naked in the woods’. The band wrote the song ‘Year of the Tear’ for this release.
By late 2009, the sisters had pooled more funds and support together to get two music video clips recorded to support their album release. With the efforts of over 30 volunteers, Inspiration Studios, The Brunswick Green Bar, Captain Neil Bubb and his ship in Lakes Entrance, four white kittens and two visions written by director Alethea Jones and Ben Plazzer the music video clips were complete.
2010 brings us to the release of the long awaited and hard earned debut album for these independants. In My Dreams, presents this theatrical pop band with a matured signature sound. It is a concept album with songs crafted around the themes within William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but more so is an album of truths, where the girls’ stories are unravelled and revealed.
Rezzalp are set to win their way into our pop hearts in 2010.
